鈥淢y goals in librarianship include deepening my understanding of classification, digital humanities, and Indigenous knowledge research,鈥 Haryanto said. 鈥淚 also value using my Indonesian language skills to build collaborative relationships and bridge gaps between people and information.鈥

Networking is one of the key components of the Spectrum Scholarship program, and Haryanto said she looks forward to connecting with other recipients who share a strong interest in developing multilingual resources and creating sustainable services.

The ALA has awarded more than 1,600 Spectrum Scholarships since 1997, according to its . In the 2025 application cycle, the program received four times as many applications as there were available scholarships. The awards committee selected this year鈥檚 Spectrum Scholars based on their commitment to community building, leadership potential and planned contributions to making social justice part of everyday work in library and information science.

The Spectrum Scholarship Program recruits and provides scholarships to American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Middle Eastern and North African, and/or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander students to assist them with obtaining a graduate degree and leadership positions within the profession and ALA.
